David Sierra

David was born in Queens, New York. He has always been a "beach goer"at Rockaway since his early childhood. At an early age he decided to visit Florida, and it was at Daytona beach where he caught his first wave and became a surfer for life. Surfing as much as he can at his home break (Rockaway) he then started to develop a unique rhythm with the ocean. In 2008 he studied in Los Angeles where he frequently surfed Venice beach, then traveled to Peru where he started giving lessons during the North American winter months. There were people from many parts of the world at Makaha Beach, Lima, where he gave lessons. Teaching there has given him the experience to work in demanding conditions and prepared him to provide a safe environment for future pupils. In 2015 he opened his services in giving surf lessons in the city where he was born & raised. David is looking forward in becoming a leader not only instructing in the water but also in showing the best practices for sustainable and healthy living. He wants to have his students not only focus on surfing but to also appreciate how unique, and beautiful the sport is thanks to "Mother Nature" and reminds us that it wouldn't be the same without her.

The youngest addition to the team is Derek Delgado. He started surfing when he was 13 in Puerto Rico. When he moved to Luquillo a little town in the east coast of Puerto Rico. He began to really focus on surfing by going to the beach every day after school to practice and improve his surfing. When he turned 15 he started competing which furthered his passion for surfing and the environment. Derek has worked for Boardriders a local surf shop in PR for three years where he started teaching for a surf school. Derek also teaches bodyboarding and skimboarding.

In 2015 Derek graduated from high school and moved to Atlanta where he wished everyday to go somewhere near the sea. Starting 2016 he decided to move to NY where he found his new local spot (Rockaway). He loves it so far and surfs anytime theres a swell or a wave. His life goal is to compete in the WSL (World Surf League) and surf heavy waves like in Mavericks,CA /Jaws in Hawaii and Puerto Escondido Mexico. Derek invites you to take a lesson with him because he says “If you never try you’ll never know the wave that is waiting for you.”

Nicholas Warwick

Nicholas started surfing at the young age of 11 when his father first introduced him to the sport. At first Nick liked boogie boarding and skim boarding but after watching the surfers at 90th street (Rockaway) Nick was intrigued to try it himself. When his father's friend took Nick out for his first time to surf he knew it was something he will always want to do.

He developed a passion for the sport, and quickly progressed over the years. Now at 20 years old he is NSSIA surf instructor certified, and Lifeguard/First aid/CPR/AED certified. He has worked with Breakwater Surf Shop giving private lessons and has helped Locals Surf School summer camp. Nick calls both Rockaway beach and Long beach his second homes because of the great ties he has with the people from the community. His wave knowledge of many Rockaway/Long Island beaches makes him ideal to have as an instructor.

Nick has traveled up and down the east coast tracking hurricanes, Nor Easters and other significant swells. He has also practiced surfing in places like Puerto Rico for 3 years, and Peru for 4 months to surf world class waves so he can improve his skills.
